Lebanon - Beirut - Khaled, a street artist
It is at the bend of a crowded street in Beirut that I meet by chance Khaled, 51 years old, Lebanese from Baalbeck but now living in the Lebanese capital. He was sitting on the floor beside the wall of a bank, between the ATM and the restaurant next door. He drew on white sheets the faces of people he imagined, with a simple pencil. "I am an artist, I have always been an artist" he replies when I ask him what he does in life. Khaled is a street artist of Beirut, in a world where art is dying day after day, in a country that is gradually disappearing into oblivion and chaos.
