Arnaud Miranda est politologue et docteur en théorie politique, chercheur associé au CEVIPOF (Sciences Po Paris), spécialiste de l’histoire des idées politiques contemporaines et des discours réactionnaires.
Dans son dernier ouvrage, Les Lumières sombres. Comprendre la pensée néoréactionnaire (Gallimard, janvier 2026), il analyse l’émergence d’un courant intellectuel de droite radicale né sur internet au tournant des années 2010, dit néoréaction ou « Lumières sombres ». Ce mouvement rejette la démocratie libérale et propose une refondation autoritaire de l’ordre politique, influencé par des figures comme Curtis Yarvin et Nick Land.
Miranda examine comment ces idées, d’abord marginales, ont circulé via le web et trouvé une audience plus large, parfois liée à certaines logiques du trumpisme contemporain, notamment dans la valorisation d’un État dirigé comme une entreprise plutôt que par des mécanismes démocratiques.

Arnaud Miranda is a political scientist and doctor in political theory, and a research fellow at CEVIPOF (Sciences Po Paris). He specializes in the history of contemporary political ideas and in the study of reactionary and anti-democratic thought.
In his latest book, Les Lumières sombres. Comprendre la pensée néoréactionnaire (Gallimard, January 2026), he examines the rise of a radical right-wing intellectual current that emerged online in the 2010s, known as the “neo-reactionary” movement or “Dark Enlightenment.” This current rejects liberal democracy and advocates authoritarian forms of political order, influenced by figures such as Curtis Yarvin and Nick Land.
Miranda shows how these once-marginal ideas spread through digital networks and gained broader visibility, at times intersecting with aspects of contemporary Trumpism, particularly the view of the state as something to be run like a private company rather than through democratic mechanisms.
