Sud-Liban : entre combats et exode, l’aide humanitaire de la FINUL se poursuit
Alors qu’une partie de la population du sud du Liban a fui les combats opposant l’armée israélienne aux milices du Hezbollah dans cette région frontalière, les contingents finlandais et français de la Force intérimaire des Nations unies au Liban (FINUL) poursuivent leur mission auprès des civils restés sur place, souvent en situation de grande précarité.
Malgré un contexte sécuritaire dégradé, les équipes d’action civilo-militaire (ACM – CIMIC) restent mobilisées. Elles apportent une aide humanitaire aux autorités locales et aux habitants, notamment sous forme de distributions de biens de première nécessité. Ces opérations s’inscrivent pleinement dans le mandat des Nations unies, qui vise à protéger les populations civiles et à contribuer à la stabilité de la zone.
Au-delà de l’assistance matérielle, ces actions ont également pour objectif de maintenir et de renforcer le lien de confiance entre les Casques bleus et les communautés locales. Dans un environnement marqué par l’incertitude et les tensions, cette présence humanitaire constitue un soutien essentiel pour les habitants qui n’ont pas pu ou souhaité quitter leur foyer.
Les militaires engagés dans ces missions doivent ainsi conjuguer impératifs sécuritaires et engagement humanitaire, illustrant le rôle complexe mais crucial de la FINUL dans cette région sensible.
Southern Lebanon: amidst fighting and mass exodus, UNIFIL’s humanitarian aid continues
Whilst part of the population in southern Lebanon has fled the fighting between the Israeli army and Hezbollah militias in this border region, the Finnish and French contingents of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) are continuing their mission to assist the civilians who have remained in the area, many of whom are in extremely precarious circumstances.
Despite a deteriorating security situation, the Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) teams remain on the ground. They are providing humanitarian aid to local authorities and residents, notably through the distribution of essential supplies. These operations are fully in line with the United Nations mandate, which aims to protect civilian populations and contribute to stability in the area.
Beyond material assistance, these actions also aim to maintain and strengthen the bond of trust between the peacekeepers and local communities. In an environment marked by uncertainty and tension, this humanitarian presence provides essential support for residents who have been unable or unwilling to leave their homes.
The military personnel deployed on these missions must therefore balance security imperatives with humanitarian commitment, illustrating the complex yet crucial role of UNIFIL in this sensitive region.
