Le canal latéral à la Loire
Construit au XIXème siècle, le canal long de 196 km relie Digoin en Saône et Loire à Briare dans le Loiret. L’objectif lors de sa construction est de relier le Rhône a la Seine pour faciliter le transport commercial entre Lyon et Paris. Il est aujourd’hui utiliser pour le tourisme fluvial.
The Canal Latéral à la Loire
Built in the 19th century, the 196-kilometre-long canal links Digoin in Saône-et-Loire with Briare in the Loiret. It was originally built to connect the Rhône with the Seine, thereby facilitating commercial transport between Lyon and Paris. Today, it is used for river tourism.
