Pour la 8e édition de « Ceci n’est pas une photo », NegPos, centre d'art et de photographie de Nîmes, a convié l’artiste cubain Jorge Luis Marrero Carbajal à exposer “Plaisirs intimes” du 6 février au 30 avril 2026.
A mi-chemin de l’art et du photomontage, cette série illustre de façon pertinente la recherche qu’entreprend Jorge Luis Marrero Carabajal depuis plus de 40 ans. Adepte de la relation conceptuelle et du recyclage, son travail s’appuie sur la déconstruction des stéréotypes via diverses formes de pratiques artistiques, en premier par le dessin puis au fil du temps par la peinture et la reproduction d'œuvres déjà existantes mais détournées de leur origine. Vidéo, photographie, installation sonore et en volume, l’œuvre de l’artiste cherche en permanence, avec souvent beaucoup d’humour, à ouvrir de nouvelles façons de penser ce qu’est une œuvre d’art.

For the 8th edition of “This is not a photo,” NegPos, the art and photography center in Nîmes, has invited Cuban artist Jorge Luis Marrero Carbajal to exhibit “Intimate Pleasures” from February 6 to April 30, 2026. Halfway between art and photomontage, this series aptly illustrates the research Jorge Luis Marrero Carbajal has been undertaking for over 40 years. A proponent of conceptual relationships and recycling, his work relies on deconstructing stereotypes through various forms of artistic practice, initially through drawing and, over time, through painting and the reproduction of existing works, diverting them from their original context. Video, photography, sound installation, and three-dimensional works—the artist's work constantly seeks, often with a great deal of humor, to open up new ways of thinking about what constitutes a work of art.
