Éphémère
Le cimetière protestant de Nîmes est à la fois un symbole historique pour la communauté protestante, mais est également un marqueur dans le pays d’un changement sociétal considérable. En dehors de toute considération cultuelle, le cimetière protestant de Nîmes, avec tout son bagage historique, a davantage un rapport à la vie qu’à la mort. Ephémère est un projet réalisé dans le cadre du festival Les Villes Invisibles #5 (2024), organisé par NegPos, le centre d’art et de photographie de Nîmes. La série de photographie en noir et blanc s’intéresse au rapport entre végétation et structures minérales, mettant en lumière le rapport vertical/horizontal des deux principaux éléments constituant le lieu : les arbres et les tombes. Ici, entre les pierres, surgit spontanément la vie végétale en lieu et place des résidents comme une transition, une continuité de la vie, persistante mais éphémère.

The Protestant cemetery in Nîmes is both a historical symbol for the Protestant community and a marker of significant societal change in the country. Beyond religious considerations, the Protestant cemetery in Nîmes, with its rich history, is more closely linked to life than to death. "Ephemeral" is a project created for the Invisible Cities #5 festival (2024), organized by NegPos, the art and photography center in Nîmes. This series of black and white photographs explores the relationship between vegetation and mineral structures, highlighting the vertical/horizontal relationship of the two main elements that constitute the site: the trees and the graves. Here, between the stones, plant life spontaneously emerges in place of the residents, like a transition, a continuity of life, persistent yet ephemeral.
