Le bateau transportant 12 militants propalestiniens qui dénoncent le blocus humanitaire d'Israël dans la bande Gaza a été repéré et intercepté dans les eaux proches de Gaza cette nuit, les militants n'ont plus pu communiquer avec l'extérieur depuis. Le bateau compte parmi les 12 militants plusieurs français dont Rima Hassan, mais aussi la jeune suédoise Greta Thunberg. Ils sont militants, humanitaires, journalistes et médecins, français, allemand, brésilien, turc, suédois, espagnol et néerlandais, partis d'Italie le 1er juin pour briser le blocus israélien à Gaza.
