L'atelier-boutique de lanternes peintes à la main de la famille de Yoshida
La main est sûre, le trait de la calligraphie impeccable, Fumiyo, 92 ans, exécute une geste répété toute une vie. C'est dans la boutique familiale du nom de son fils Yoshida, que le père et le fils perpétuent une tradition familiale vieille de 150 ans. Ils sont ainsi les 3ème et 4ème générations d'artisans au sein de leur famille à peindre à la main des lanternes et banderoles dans le style traditionnel Edo.
The Yoshida family’s hand-painted lantern workshop and shop
With a steady hand and impeccable calligraphic strokes, 92-year-old Fumiyo performs a gesture she has repeated all her life. It is in the family shop, named after her son Yoshida, that father and son are carrying on a 150-year-old family tradition. They are the third and fourth generations of artisans in their family to hand-paint lanterns and banners in the traditional Edo style.
