Meeting with luthier Marin Nourry
"A nerd of bass guitar" is how Marin Nourry describes himself. In Rueil-Malmaison, in the Hauts-de-Seine region of France, this native of Normandy has set up his own lutherie workshop, Belforti, named after his maternal grandfather.
After a life spent between New Caledonia and Madagascar, where he worked in aquaculture, the young man began making his first electric basses himself. After encouraging trials, he enrolled in an initial lutherie training course in England, before taking the plunge in 2021 and enrolling at the prestigious Galloup Guitar School in Michigan, USA.
Now a graduate of a Master's program, this passionate luthier began by repairing instruments in his Montrouge apartment before setting up his high-tech workshop in Rueil-Malmaison in 2023.
Organization, precision, patience and passion are the hallmarks of the man who designs his instruments from start to finish, from the body to the pickups, in a workshop where references to his atypical career are never far away.
