This Tuesday, October 13, 2021 was an important day at the Manufacture de Céramique de Sèvres in the outskirts of Paris. Every 5 years, the Manufacture invites 3 artists to have their work fired in the historic 1756 wood-fired kiln. For almost 2 days, the "cuiseurs", as they say in the jargon, will take turns feeding logs through 4 hatches until the fire reaches a temperature of 1280 degrees, while scrupulously respecting the planned "temperature curve". At the end of the 33-hour firing, the fire is extinguished under the supervision of the ceramists. The works by Annette Messager, Hélène Delprat and Ulla Von Brandenburg were unveiled on November 16, 2021.
