Les derniers sondages le donnent vainqueur mais avec une très incertaine avance. Emmanuel Gégoire, le candidat socialiste à la Mairie de Paris a choisi de ne pas allier sa liste d'union de la gauche à la liste La France Insoumise de Sophia Chikirou, elle aussi quialifiéee pour le second tour. De son côté, sa plus sérieuse concurrente, Rachida Dati, a réussi à aggréger autour d'elle l'ensemble de la droite et de l'extrême droite, même si la tête de liste Horizons/ Renaissance, Pierre-Yves Bournazel, a choisi de se retirer et de ne pas participer, laiisant fuiter son rejet de la candidate Rachida Dati dans la presse. Au dernier jour de la campagne, Emmanuel Grégoire a dénoncer l'alliance des droites, l'extrémisation de la candidature Dati, pour lui coupable d'un projet qui trahirait l'héritage politique humaniste de Paris tout e,n appelant les électeurs de l'autre candidate, Sophia Chikirou, à ne pas se tromper de combat et faciliter l'élection de la droite.
