Avec 35 875 communes sur le territoire national, la France reste un pays attaché à cet échjelon local de proximité. Le 107e congrès des maires était le dernier de la mandature en cours, avant les élection municipales d'avril 2026.

The agenda focused on the Freedom of Municipalities, with strong demands from David Lisnard, President of the Association of Mayors of France, in favor of municipal powers. With 35,875 municipalities across the country, France remains committed to this local level of government. The 107th Congress of Mayors was the last of the current term, before the municipal elections of April 2026.
