Ancien fonctionnaire du ministère de l'éconbomie et des Finaces, Pascal Demurger a rejoint la MAIF en tant que conseiller du président en 2002 avant de devenir Directeur en 2009 puis Directeur général en 2016. Engagé pour le mouvement mutualiste, il prône une économie tournée vers les principes de l'Economie Socialie et Solidaire. Considérant une éventuelle arrivée du Rassemblement national comme un "danger", le 12 février 2026, il a publié une tribune dans le Journal Le Monde exprimant son refus d'un rapprochement entre le patronnat et ce Parti. Pour lui, il s'agit d' "une erreur tactique autant qu’une illusion politique. Ce rapprochement sert avant tout les intérêts d’un parti qui a un besoin vital de renforcer sa culture économique et de consolider ses réseaux pour asseoir sa légitimité. Cette dynamique lui confère ainsi une respectabilité et une crédibilité technique longtemps inexistantes aux yeux de l’opinion et entraîne le risque d’accélérer sa victoire".

A former official at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Pascal Demurger joined MAIF as an advisor to the chairman in 2002, before becoming a director in 2009 and subsequently CEO in 2016. Committed to the mutualist movement, he advocates for an economy grounded in the principles of the Social and Solidarity Economy. Viewing the potential rise to power of the Rassemblement National (National Rally) as a "danger," he published an op-ed in the newspaper Le Monde on February 12, 2026, expressing his opposition to any rapprochement between the business community and that party. In his view, this represents "as much a tactical error as a political illusion. Such a rapprochement primarily serves the interests of a party that desperately needs to strengthen its economic literacy and consolidate its networks in order to establish its legitimacy. This dynamic lends it a respectability and technical credibility that were long absent in the eyes of the public, while also carrying the risk of accelerating its path to victory."
