Youths Of Popular Neighborhoods Protest Police Brutality In Tunis
As the Assembly of the Representatives of the People (ARP) (Tunisian Parliament) holds a plenary session for the vote of confidence in new ministers proposed by the head of government Hichem Mechichi, dozens of young people from the popular neighborhoods of the city of Hay Ettadhamen, which is one of the most populated cities in Tunis, took to the streets in an anti-government protest march that started in their neighborhood and headed towards Bardo city in Tunis, where security forces prevented them from demonstrating in front of the parliament building.
The demonstrators have particularly demanded the release of youths arrested by the police during the latest nightly protests where they had clashed with the security forces.
The protesters also denounced the police brutality and the repression of the social protest movements that started in the country in mid-January, and demanded 'dignity and freedom' for their neighborhoods, and protested against the marginalization and the economic and social crisis in the country.
