TROMENIE DE LOCRONAN (2)
L’événement est l’un des plus grands pardons de Bretagne, c'est un moment de l’expression de la foi bretonne, il permet de rendre hommage à saint Ronan, un moine irlandais venu évangéliser la Bretagne au VIe siècle. Ayant pour départ et terme l'église Saint-Ronan, la Grande troménie de Locronan se déroule une fois tous les 6 ans en juillet. Ce pèlerinage long de 12 km suit l'orbite apparente du soleil et consiste en un parcours que la tradition orale a fixé précisément, par d'anciens chemins ou sentiers frayés à travers taillis, ruisseaux, cultures. Douze croix de pierre marquent autant de haltes pour la proclamation d'évangiles notés dans un rituel ancien. Une quarantaine de huttes de branchages, habitées huit jours durant, par des statues de saints, représentants des églises et chapelles alentour, sont dressées au long du parcours.

The event is one of Brittany's biggest pardons, an expression of the Breton faith and a tribute to Saint Ronan, an Irish monk who came to evangelize Brittany in the 6th century. Starting and finishing at the church of Saint-Ronan, the Grande troménie de Locronan takes place every 6 years in July. This 12 km-long pilgrimage follows the apparent orbit of the sun, and consists of a route that oral tradition has fixed precisely, along ancient paths or tracks cut through coppice, streams and crops. Twelve stone crosses mark as many stops for the proclamation of gospels recorded in an ancient ritual. Some forty branch huts, inhabited for eight days by statues of saints representing the surrounding churches and chapels, are set up along the route.
