[?????????????] · Comme tous les 24 août la Ville de Paris commémorait cet après midi les combattants de la Neve qui ont participé à la Libération de Paris.
En présence de la Maire de Paris Anne Hidalgo, d’élu•es parisien•nes, d’associations mémorielles de la Nueve et du Secrétaire d’Etat à la Mémoire démocratique du gouvernement espagnol, la cérémonie s’est déroulée dans le jardin des combattants de la Nueve situé au pied de l’Hôtel de Ville.

« La Nueve » (9e compagnie) était une unité de la 2e Division Blindée (2e DB) du général Leclerc, intégrée à l’armée française de la Libération. Son nom est devenu légendaire car ses hommes furent parmi les premiers à entrer dans Paris le 24 août 1944, précédant les troupes alliées.
La particularité de cette compagnie est qu’elle était composée en grande majorité d’anciens républicains espagnols, vaincus lors de la guerre d’Espagne (1936-1939) et exilés en France après la victoire franquiste. Beaucoup d’entre eux avaient connu les camps d’internement français, puis choisi de poursuivre la lutte contre le fascisme en s’engageant auprès des forces françaises libres.

Le 24 août 1944, ce sont les blindés de La Nueve qui entrèrent les premiers dans la capitale, via la porte d’Italie, sous les ordres du capitaine Raymond Dronne. Ils atteignirent l’Hôtel de Ville dans la soirée et furent acclamés par la population parisienne.
Cette participation héroïque des républicains espagnols resta longtemps méconnue, éclipsée par le récit plus global de la Libération.
Après la guerre, beaucoup de ces combattants furent oubliés par l’histoire officielle. Franco restant au pouvoir jusqu’en 1975, leur rôle resta longtemps dans l’ombre. Il a fallu attendre les années 2000 pour que la France et l’Espagne commencent à rendre hommage à ces hommes.
En 2015, la maire de Paris, Anne Hidalgo a inauguré un jardin mémorial dédié à La Nueve près de l’Hôtel de Ville, rappelant ainsi leur contribution décisive à la liberté.
Ce dimanche 24 août, la Maire de Paris a dévoilé une plaque en hommage à ces combattants ; plaque visible à l’entrée du jardin sur le parvis de l’Hôtel de Ville.

In the presence of Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo, Parisian elected officials, memorial associations of La Nueve, and the Spanish Secretary of State for Democratic Memory, the ceremony took place in the garden of the combatants of La Nueve located at the foot of City Hall.

“La Nueve” (9th Company) was a unit of General Leclerc's 2nd Armored Division (2nd DB), part of the French Liberation Army. Its name became legendary because its men were among the first to enter Paris on August 24, 1944, preceding the Allied troops.
The distinctive feature of this company was that it was composed mainly of former Spanish Republicans who had been defeated in the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) and exiled to France after Franco's victory. Many of them had been in French internment camps and then chose to continue the fight against fascism by joining the Free French Forces.

On August 24, 1944, the armored vehicles of La Nueve were the first to enter the capital through the Porte d'Italie, under the command of Captain Raymond Dronne. They reached the Hôtel de Ville in the evening and were cheered by the people of Paris.
This heroic participation by Spanish Republicans remained largely unknown for a long time, overshadowed by the broader narrative of the Liberation.
After the war, many of these fighters were forgotten by official history. With Franco remaining in power until 1975, their role remained in the shadows for a long time. It was not until the 2000s that France and Spain began to pay tribute to these men.
In 2015, the mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, inaugurated a memorial garden dedicated to La Nueve near the Hôtel de Ville, commemorating their decisive contribution to freedom.
On Sunday, August 24, the mayor of Paris unveiled a plaque in honor of these fighters, which can be seen at the entrance to the garden on the square in front of the Hôtel de Ville.
