MUNICIPALES | Laurence Ruffin, première femme élue maire à Grenoble, remporte son pari
Portant l’union de la gauche écologiste et citoyenne, la dirigeante d'entreprise Laurence Ruffin, 48 ans et jusqu'alors sans expérience en politique, s’est largement imposée dimanche 22 mars 2026 dans les urnes à Grenoble face à l’ancien maire de droite de la ville Alain Carignon, qui l'avait devancée à l'issue du premier tour.
L'Amiénoise d'origine, soeur du député de la Somme François Ruffin, récolte 56,59% des suffrages et devient la première femme à diriger la capitale des Alpes, sa « ville de coeur » où elle réside depuis 2003. Elle succède à l'écologiste Éric Piolle, qui avait annoncé qu'il ne se représenterait pas.

Leading a coalition of the environmentalist and civic left, business executive Laurence Ruffin, 48, who had no previous political experience, secured a resounding victory at the polls in Grenoble on Sunday 22 March 2026 against the city’s former right-wing mayor, Alain Carignon, who had led her in the first round.
Originally from Amiens and sister of François Ruffin, MP for the Somme, she won 56.59% of the vote and became the first woman to lead the capital of the Alps, her « beloved city » where she has lived since 2003. She succeeds the environmentalist Éric Piolle, who had announced that he would not stand for re-election.
