The Minister for the Armed Forces and Veterans Affairs, Catherine Vautrin, presided over a national tribute ceremony on Tuesday 17 March 2026 in Varces, south of Grenoble, alongside General Pierre Schill, Chief of Staff of the Army, in honour of Major Arnaud Frion, who died during the night of 12 to 13 March 2026 during an attack in the Erbil region of Iraq.
