Il y a l’impossibilité de la vérité entière à chaque page mais la quête désespérée d’une justesse au plus près de la vie, de la nuit, du cœur, du corps, de l’esprit. De ces trois femmes, il a fallu commencer par la première, celle qui vient d’avoir vingt-cinq ans quand elle court et qui est la seule à être encore en vie aujourd’hui. Cette femme, c’est moi. »
Dans La Nuit au cœur (éditions Gallimard), son dernier ouvrage auréolé du Prix Femina et du Prix Goncourt des Lycéens en 2025, l'écrivain mauricienne Nathacha Appanah, photographiée mercredi 19 novembre 2025 à Grenoble dans les allées de la librairie Le Square, entrelace trois histoires de femmes victimes de la violence de leur compagnon. Sur le fil, entre force et humilité, sa plume scrute l’énigme insupportable du féminicide conjugal, quand la nuit noire prend la place de l’amour.

In La Nuit au cœur (éditions Gallimard), her latest work, which won the Prix Femina and the Prix Goncourt des Lycéens in 2025, Mauritian writer Nathacha Appanah, photographed Wednesday 19 November 2025 in Grenoble in the aisles of the Le Square bookstore, intertwines three stories of women who are victims of violence at the hands of their partners. Walking a tightrope between strength and humility, her pen scrutinizes the unbearable enigma of domestic femicide, when the dark night takes the place of love.
