Fifteen years after three nights of violence and Nicolas Sarkozy's speech that put the media spotlight on this working-class neighbourhood nestled south of Grenoble, Villeneuve continues its transformation in the wake of a vast urban regeneration project and the daily efforts of associations fighting against the stigmatisation of this large housing complex built in the 1970s and its 13,000 inhabitants.
