Rénovations thermiques, végétalisation des écoles et de leurs abords, installation de fontaines à eau et de brumisateurs, plantation d’arbres : dense et très sensible aux fortes chaleurs Grenoble a multiplié les initiatives depuis 2014 et l'arrivée à sa tête des écologistes pour tenter de limiter l’impact des épisodes caniculaires.
Mais ces ajustements indispensables pour rafraîchir les rues surchauffées coûtent très cher et les efforts de la municipalité, comme ici au coeur de l’écoquartier Flaubert ou de l’école Diderot, ne s'inscrivent en pointillés.

Energy-efficiency renovations, greening of schools and their surroundings, the installation of water fountains and misting systems, and tree planting: Grenoble – a densely populated city that is highly vulnerable to extreme heat – has stepped up its initiatives since 2014, when the Green Party took office, in an attempt to limit the impact of heatwaves.
However, these essential measures to cool down overheated streets are very costly, and the council’s efforts – such as those here in the heart of the Flaubert eco-neighbourhood or at Diderot School – remain sporadic.
