Exposition "Baya, une héroïne algérienne de l'Art moderne"
Ce projet monographique consacré à l'oeuvre de l'artiste algérienne Fatma Haddad, connue sous le pseudonyme de Baya prolonge et enrichit l?exposition présentée par l'Institut du monde arabe, sous le titre «?Baya, icône de la peinture algérienne. Femmes en leur Jardin».
L'ambition est de proposer « une réflexion sur l'émancipation par la création artistique d'une jeune algérienne en situation coloniale, grâce à sa personnalité et à son talent et grâce aussi au soutien d'un tout petit groupe de personnalités humanistes, qui avaient consacré leur vie à mettre en valeur la culture algérienne et qui avaient milité pour l'abolition du système colonial».
Le parcours muséal présente l'ensemble des facettes de sa production, entre peinture, dessin et sculpture, réunissant près de 200 ouvres prêtées par le Centre national des arts plastiques, musée du Quai Branly - Jacques Chirac, musée de la Musique Philharmonie de Paris, Mucem, musée Picasso, Fondation Kamel Lazaar, galerie Maeght et autres collectionneurs privés.
Un monde idéal qui célèbre les femmes kabyles comme des reines majestueuses, et où l'animal et le végétal cohabitent en parfaite harmonie.
En parallèle, le public a été invité à réaliser une fresque, à la maniére de Baya.
Baya, an Algerian heroine of modern art" exhibition
This monographic project devoted to the work of the Algerian artist Fatma Haddad, known by her pseudonym Baya, extends and enriches the exhibition presented by the Institut du Monde Arabe, entitled "Baya, icon of Algerian painting. Women in their Garden".
The aim is to offer "a reflection on the emancipation, through artistic creation, of a young Algerian woman in a colonial situation, thanks to her personality and her talent, and also thanks to the support of a very small group of humanist personalities who had devoted their lives to promoting Algerian culture and who had campaigned for the abolition of the colonial system".
The museum displays all the facets of his work, including painting, drawing and sculpture, bringing together nearly 200 works on loan from the Centre national des arts plastiques, Musée du Quai Branly - Jacques Chirac, Musée de la Musique Philharmonie de Paris, Mucem, Musée Picasso, Fondation Kamel Lazaar, Galerie Maeght and other private collectors.
An ideal world that celebrates Kabyle women as majestic queens, where animals and plants coexist in perfect harmony.
