La flèche de la Basilique Saint-Denis, une reconstruction monumentale
A Saint-Denis en Ile-de-France, un chantier hors norme redonne peu à peu à la basilique cathédrale son visage historique. Monument fondateur de l’art gothique et nécropole des rois de France, l’édifice retrouve aujourd’hui une partie de sa silhouette perdue : la tour nord et sa flèche, démontées au milieu du XIXᵉ siècle après de violentes tempêtes. Un chantier titanesque, porté par l’association "Suivez la Flèche", redonne vie à ce géant de pierre, bloc après bloc, pendant cinq ans.

In Saint-Denis in the Ile-de-France region, an extraordinary construction project is gradually restoring the cathedral basilica to its historic appearance. A founding monument of Gothic art and necropolis of the kings of France, the building is now regaining part of its lost silhouette: the north tower and its spire, dismantled in the mid-19th century after violent storms. A titanic construction project, led by the association “Suivez la Flèche” (Follow the Spire), is bringing this stone giant back to life, block by block, over a period of five years.
