SILWAN - JERUSALEM
Le quartier de Silwan se trouve en contre-bas de l’esplanade des mosquées et du mur des lamentations, Il pourrait-être l’un des quartiers fondateurs la ville Sainte.
Depuis quelques années, les habitants majoritairement Palestiniens, se retrouvent expropriés et leurs maisons détruites pour être peu a peu remplacé par des colons venant souvent d’Europe ou des Etats-Unis.
La cité David y a été installé récemment pour accroitre le tourisme religieux et y éffectué des fouilles archéologiques soutéraines qui elles-mêmes contribues a l’effondrement des maisons.
Ce travail a été réalisé dans le cadre d’une résidence photographique avec l’intitut francais de Jérusalem Est et l’asssociatoin l’Olivier.
SILWAN - JERUSALEM
The Silwan neighborhood is located below the esplanade of the mosques and the wailing wall. It could be one of the founding neighborhoods of the Holy City.
For several years, the inhabitants, mostly Palestinians, have found themselves expropriated and their homes destroyed to be gradually replaced by settlers often coming from Europe or the United States.
The David city was recently installed there to increase religious tourism and carried out underground archaeological excavations which themselves contribute to the collapse of the houses.
This work was carried out as part of a photographic residency with the French Institute of East Jerusalem and the Olivier association.
