Cérémonie commémorative du 40e anniversaire de la catastrophe d'Air India, Irlande
Le service commémoratif du 40e anniversaire de la catastrophe d'Air India s'est tenu le 23 juin 2025 sur le site commémoratif de la péninsule de Sheep's Head, entre Ahakista et Durrus, dans le comté de Cork.
Organisée par le conseil du comté de Cork, la cérémonie a rendu hommage aux 329 victimes de l'attentat à la bombe perpétré en 1985 contre le vol 182 d'Air India, qui s'est écrasé au large de la côte irlandaise après une explosion à 9 400 mètres d'altitude.
Parmi les participants figuraient des familles de victimes, des membres de la communauté locale, des secouristes et des dignitaires tels que le Premier Ministre Micheál Martin, le représentant permanent du Canada auprès des Nations unies à New York, Bob Rae. Des représentants internationaux ont également participé à la cérémonie, notamment le ministre canadien de la sécurité publique Gary Anandasangaree et le ministre indien Hardeep Singh Puri.
Des couronnes ont été déposées sur le site, où un cadran solaire en pierre commémore les victimes de l'un des attentats terroristes les plus meurtriers de l'histoire de l'aviation.
40th Anniversary Memorial Service of the Air India Disaster
The 40th Anniversary Memorial Service of the Air India Disaster was held on June 23rd, 2025, at the memorial site on the Sheep’s Head Peninsula, between Ahakista and Durrus, County Cork.
Organized by Cork County Council, the ceremony honored the 329 victims of the 1985 bombing of Air India Flight 182, which crashed off the Irish coast after an explosion at 9,400 meters.
Attendees included families of the victims, local community members, first responders, and dignitaries such as Taoiseach Micheál Martin, Permanent Representative of Canada to the United Nations in New York Bob Rae, and participation from international representatives, including Canada’s Minister of Public Safety Gary Anandasangaree and India’s Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.
Memorial wreaths were laid at the site, where a stone sundial commemorates the victims of one of aviation’s deadliest terrorist attacks.
