Au coeur du Québec, à Brigham, dans les Cantons de l'Est, se met en place une petite révolution écologique.
Crée en 1986 par la famille Naud, reconverti en Bio en 2016, ce vignoble Québécois est depuis sa création un véritable avant-garde dans son domaine.
En 2021, après avoir mis sur pied le projets innovant Vigne en ville, Véronique Lemieux rejoint l'équipe de la Bauge. Elle ramène avec elle de nouvelles pratiques, dont la viticulture de régénération des sols.
Accompagnée et soutenue par Simon Naud, vigneron propriétaire, elle expérimente cette toute nouvelle approche.
L'idée ; implanter les principes de la viticulture régénératrice des sols au ce c?ur du vignoble. Elle en profite par la même occasion pour planter et vinifier de nouveaux cépages hybrides pouvant résister au climat extreme de la province.
Car outre l'amour du vin, l'enjeux est avant tout écologiques.
S'inspirant de concepts déjà existants tels que la biodynamie ou bien encore la permaculture, la viticulture de régénération des sols se focalise comme son nom l'indique sur la restauration des terres..
En effet, les sols sont de véritables réservoirs pour le carbone. Mais pour qu'ils puissent jouer ce rôle crucial d'absorption, ils doivent être vivants. Ainsi pour régénérer cette vie microbienne, un ensemble de techniques et de solutions sont mises en avant par l'approche: Irrigation naturelle grâce au lac, diversification des végétaux cultivés, fertilisation sols (de manière animal ou végétale) et faible travail de ces derniers (en les couvrants, en désherbant de façon manuelle, etc).
Cette philosophie de travail tournée vers l'avenir voit naitre des vins locaux innovants, sains et à l'image de ces viticulteurs.
Regenerating viticulture
In the heart of Quebec, in Brigham, in the Eastern Townships, a small ecological revolution is taking place.
Created in 1986 by the Naud family, and converted to organic production in 2016, this Quebec vineyard has been a pioneer in its field ever since.
In 2021, after setting up the innovative Vigne en ville project, Véronique Lemieux joins the Bauge team. She brings with her new practices, including soil regeneration viticulture.
Accompanied and supported by Simon Naud, winegrower-owner, she is experimenting with this brand-new approach.
The idea: to bring the principles of soil-regenerating viticulture to the very heart of the vineyard. At the same time, she's taking the opportunity to plant and vinify new hybrid grape varieties that can withstand the province's extreme climate.
In addition to the love of wine, the stakes are above all ecological.
Inspired by existing concepts such as biodynamic viticulture and permaculture, soil regeneration viticulture focuses, as its name suggests, on restoring the soil.
Soils are true carbon reservoirs. But for them to play this crucial role of absorption, they need to be alive. To regenerate this microbial life, a range of techniques and solutions are put forward by the approach: natural irrigation from the lake, diversification of cultivated plants, soil fertilization (animal or vegetable) and low tillage (covering the soil, manual weeding, etc.).
This forward-looking work philosophy has given rise to innovative, healthy local wines that reflect the image of these winegrowers.
