La culture lgbt+ s'est ouverte depuis plusieurs années au grand public grâce aux phénomènes tel que Rupaul drag race ou au film Climax qui ont mis au centre de l'atention des formes d'expréssions qui viennent des Etats Unis.Le ball est un des espace privilégié à cette prise de conscience artistique et culturel à travers le corps (le voguing entre autre) et la mode.
Il s'agit aussi de remettre des prix aux perfomeurs et aux personnes qui ont eu un impact positif sur la communauté lgbt en France et dans le monde.
