In October 2019, following the government's announcement of a new tax for the Whatsapp messaging app, the Lebanese population took to the streets to claim the departure of the current leaders.
Initially demonstrations, the movement quickly became "
al thawra": the revolution.
In a country with a divided history, the street brought together religions and political parties of all stripes, and some spoke of the "
real end of the civil war".
Students, workers, pensioners, Christians, Sunnis, Druze... The Beirutians gather every day and every night on the "Ring Road" or on the Martyrs' Square to exchange, chant, claim.
The revolution becomes a daily life, an affirmation of identity.
