BALLARO, LE MARCHE DES MIROIRS
De l'arabe Souk el Ballarak, Ballaro est le quartier le plus ancien de Palerme. Formé par les cultures occidentales, islamique et byzantine, Il accueille des migrants depuis des décennies : paysans de l'après guerre, ressortissants du sous-continent indien, puis d'Afrique de l'Ouest. Les différents dialectes, cultures et religions forment le « Palerme multiethnique » el Ballarak, « le marché des miroirs ».

From the Arabic Souk el Ballarak, Ballaro is the oldest district of Palermo. Shaped by Western, Islamic and Byzantine cultures, it has been hosting migrants for decades: post-war peasants, nationals from the Indian subcontinent, and then from West Africa. The different dialects, cultures and religions form the "multi-ethnic Palermo" el Ballarak, "the market of mirrors".
