Genesis
Genesis
"...if we were all put in a large basin and cooked over a large fire, we would have a basic set of atoms that were all made by giant stars 6, 7, 8 or 10 billion years ago. So that's why we're all made of the same material." Extract from the sound creation Le poids du ciel de Provence, by Bernard Fort, directed by Lionel Quantin.
If it is true that we ourselves, our planet and everything that lives on it, are made of materials from stars, then observing the sky is like contemplating our origins.
This work was carried out during an artistic residency in the Pays de Forcalquier, Jean Giono's land, under the sky reputed to be the purest in Europe and with the territory as a red thread. Inspired by the latter's writings testifying to a strong intuition of unity between man and the cosmos, my exploration was vertical and the territory declined in the plural: micro or macro, geographical or psychic, external or internal.
Genesis is a visual and sound investigation of one of the great questions of the human being: that of origin and meaning: where do we come from and what gives us life? A philosophical question whose answer is disputed by science and religion - I am interested, beyond the false dichotomy between matter and spirit, in what we have in common, in what was created billions of years ago and exists in everything in this world.
