PROCESSION DE PAQUES A SCICLI
Au plus fort de la Semaine Sainte, le jour de Pâques est célébré la Résurrection du Christ - appelé l'Homme Vivant - au cri de la Joie " Gioia" en italien.
La statue en bois du Christ, oeuvre du XVIIIe siècle attribuée à Civiletti et conservée dans l'église de Santa Maria La Nova, est transportée en procession dans les rues de la ville et se balance et danse en signe de joie tout au long de la journée jusqu'à tard dans la nuit.
Le matin la procession est précédée de l'arrivée du Saint Sacrement porté par l'évèque de Scicli au pied de l'église de Santa Maria la Nova. Un grand groupe de jeunes porteurs désignés prend possession de la statue du Christ ressuscité et l'élève vigoureusement les bras levés en criant à plusieurs reprises : joie ! joie! joie !
Ainsi commence un rite orgitique fascinant et sublime. Pendant toute la procession, les jeunes, à intervalles courts et réguliers, continuent à soulever la statue, la déséquilibrant latéralement, en avant, en arrière, en criant toujours en choeur : joie ! joie! joie ! Un rituel érotique, de souffrance et de démonstration de force est clairement célébré. Pour s'en rendre compte, il suffit de regarder le visage et les mouvements des jeunes de Scicli. Ils improvisent, jouent, se croisent, rient avec une participation intime et totale.
Tout autour la foule crie et célèbre la "Gioia" qui avance sous une pluie de fleurs jetées des balcons des maisons et dans une tempête de tirs de feux d'artifices assourdissants jusqu'au retour le soir dans l'église sanctuaire de Santa Maria la Nova.
EASTER PROCESSION IN SCICLI
At the height of Holy Week, Easter Day is celebrated the Resurrection of Christ - called the Living Man - with the cry of Joy "Gioia".
The wooden statue of Christ, an 18th century work attributed to Civiletti and kept in the church of Santa Maria La Nova, is carried in procession through the streets of the city and swayed and danced in joy throughout the day until late at night.
In the morning the procession is preceded by the arrival of the Blessed Sacrament carried by the Bishop of Scicli at the foot of the church of Santa Maria la Nova. A large group of designated young carriers took possession of the statue of the risen Christ and raised it vigorously with their arms raised, shouting several times: joy! joy! joy! joy! joy!
Thus begins a fascinating and sublime orgitic rite. Throughout the procession, the young people, at short and regular intervals, continue to lift the statue, unbalancing it laterally, forwards, backwards, always shouting in chorus: joy ! joy! joy! joy! joy! An erotic ritual, of suffering and demonstration of strength is clearly celebrated. To realize this, one only has to look at the face and movements of Scicli's young people, who radiate joy and vitality. They improvise, play, cross paths, laugh with an intimate and total participation.
All around the crowd shouts and celebrates the Gioia which advances under a rain of flowers thrown from the balconies of the houses and in a storm of deafening fireworks until the evening return to the sanctuary church of Santa Maria la Nova.
