YPLUSK is an urban planning and architecture agency that brings together several different trades (architects, urban planners, artists and designers). Located in Bagnolet, a few minutes from the town hall, Y+K has also opened a Fab-lab: the Hyper.
The Fablab is managed by three young men who grew up in the neighbourhood: Saddek, Mtir and Aymane, who all started in the agency via a civic service that later allowed them to be on permanent contracts. They are all three Fab-managers (reception, organisation of activities, management of the place) and are also the builders of the installations developed by the agency (installation of scenography, street furniture).
During the confinement they wanted to make the most of their know-how and decided to manufacture visors for the nursing staff. With the 3D printer, the youngest of the Fab-lab, they can make a very useful plastic part. Modelled by "makers" from all over the world, the 3D files are then broadcast on the internet and can be downloaded free of charge.
Alexis, one of the agency's associates, has modified it a little to adapt it to the Fab-lab's printer.
Saddek, Mitr and Aymane printed and assembled several dozen visors that they then donated to a maternity ward and a hospital in the city of Bagnolet.
"It's quite easy to do, we just had to get some rubber bands and rhodoïd (transparent plastic that avoids fogging) that we could find through our usual suppliers. Then it's easy to assemble. "Saddek, who has been working at Fablab for 4 years, explains.
Their objective would be to be able to distribute some to the administrative services to resume work calmly.
"The machine is quite old but we are trying to do our best, we are doing with what we have to help in the face of the health crisis. We're doing what we can with what we have to help in the health crisis," adds Mitr, who joined Yplusk five years ago.
An initiative that illustrates the many actions in solidarity with the health crisis that have flourished throughout France. Everyone is trying to be useful at their own level to help in the fight against the Covid virus19.
