Sudanese Refugees Collective ASUAD demonstration in Paris
Press release
We, Sudanese refugees, had to flee our homeland, because of all the oppression and human rights violations that we faced for many years.
During our trip, we approached death in the hope of living and gaining access to freedoms that our country does not grant us.
Today, Sunday, January 20, 2019, by this action we wish to use our freedom of expression to reveal to the French people and to the whole world, the realities facing Sudan and denounce the relations that France has with the dictator Omar El-Bashir.
There, it was impossible for us to obtain this fundamental freedom. But here it is our duty to use this right. For our families, our friends and for our people, and we decided to raise our voices and speak.
We came from one of the richest countries in the world, but where natural resources justify the sacrifice of human lives. We come from a country that for thirty years now is in the hands of criminals who govern through war, blood, rape, and hatred. A state that involve in selling children to its Saudi neighbor to use as human shields.
Omar al-Bashir is a dangerous dictator who took power through a military coup and has since instituted a regime based on terror and crime. Two arrest warrants have been issued against him by the International Criminal Court (ICC); in 2009 for "war crimes and crimes against humanity" and in 2010 for "genocide" in Darfur. These massacres have claimed more than 300,000 lives since 2003. Anyone who dares to say these truths out loud in Sudan will be punished on the spot.
Despite these charges, the French government continues to invite Khartoum regime leaders to his table to talk business collaboration*. Last October, two French MPs were invited to a dinner by the head of the Sudanese National Intelligence and Security Service Salah Gosh, who is accused of committing many violation against human rights, including commanding in acts of arbitrary detention, harassment, torture and denial of a fair trial, assassination of student activists, specially who belong to Darfur, and many other acts and crimes committed by national security agents and intelligence services under his control for more than 20 years. This visit would also have been the occasion to meet his counterparts of the DGSI and the French DGSE.
France and Sudan have already been working hand-in-hand for years, and refugees who suffered torture, imprisonment are regularly delivered by the French state. We are not afraid to put the appropriate words on these facts: complicity with the dictatorial and bloodthirsty state.
For a month now, the Sudanese people have come together to peacefully demand the dismissal of the dictator, and because their practiced this constitutional right. Thousands of them undergo detention, kidnapping, beatings, and the peaceful protests are attacked with bullet shots and tear gas. The dead are increasing from day to day. Currently, nearly 50 people shot dead, including children, by snipers who belong to the state security forces.
We call on the French people to support the Sudanese revolution.
We call on the French government to stop the negotiations with this dictatorial regime and immediately stop the evacuation the refuges under the pressure of the Sudanese government.
When we came to France, we wanted the protection of the "country of human rights" and peace. All we want is freedom, peace, and justice!
For a month, we have been demonstrating every week in Paris, and we will keep on demonstrating against the fascist regime in Khartoum and against its human rights violations. We call on the French people to support the current revolution in Sudan, and to join the demonstrate throughout France!
