Les quatorze membres de cette division se sont portés volontaires pour remplir cette mission très spécifique : être à la fois sur le terrain pour obtenir de la part des familles des renseignements sur les objets que portaient les disparus (alliances, collier montres écharpes) puis retourner dans leur laboratoire mobile pour analyser les différents prélèvement récoltés sur le terrain.
Commence alors un travail de chimiste aussi précis que laborieux mais dont le résultat est déterminant dans le travail de deuil que doivent engager les familles.
