pousser, grandir, passer, rencontrer...
Visual identity of Culture Commune 2018/2019 - scène nationale
Visual identity of the season
The members of the collective wanted to invite an artist from another discipline to intermingle their practices and invited Anne Breton for an artistic residency at the University of Artois.
Anne Breton, coming from video and textile, then devoted herself to ceramics and to explorations that bring her back to an artistic practice oscillating between sculpture and the object. The collective Faux Amis + having named itself so, was present on the territory in 2017/2018 in order to share with the local population (students and inhabitants) its artistic universe, its knowledge and its experiences.
During this time of residence, the collective Faux Amis + has collaborated several times with Culture Commune, and it is quite natural that it accepts the proposal of the latter to work on the imaginary of the new season 18/19, in the extension of its research
initiated on the territory.
Starting with a lexicon of words inspired by Culture Commune and its aesthetic and political commitments, the collective worked on the idea of an abstract motif evoking a primitive and universal writing.
Constellate, radiate, begin, unroll, carry, transport, move, build, fabricate,
push, grow, pass, meet...
The idea of the fabric, patchwork gathering small pieces of each one to make common work germinated in the spirit of the collective. The technique of indigo recalls the ancestral know-how of the Tuaregs. The paste of reserve leaves a trace in negative, an impression like an infusion.
The photographs, staged by the Faux Amis + correspond to the highlights of Culture Commune and invite local residents to come and pose in the landscapes and places related to the Scène Nationale.
A game with the fabric is set up, in turn draped, standard, protection, receptacle, it is a moment of freedom and creation to several. The whole year has been punctuated by different highlights in which the members of the collective have participated, scenographies, workshops in connection with the visual identity built for the season.
