AIX-EN-PROVENCE - Pavillon Noir
Le Pavillon Noir a été construit entre 2004 et 2006, il est destiné à accueillir le Ballet Preljocaj, la compagnie de danse contemporaine d'Angelin Preljocaj qui a choisi de s'implanter à Aix-en-Provence dans le cadre d'un Centre chorégraphique national.
Le bâtiment, conçu par l'architecte Rudy Ricciotti, ressort par son originalité architecturale, qui contraste avec le reste de la ville.
Ce parallélépipède rectangle de 3 000 m2 fait 27 mètres de haut ainsi que 18 mètres de large est conçu en béton armé brut de couleur noire et de verre. Il est composé de quatre salles de répétitions pour le Ballet Preljocaj qui se situent dans la partie supérieure du pavillon. La scène de spectacle (de 17 m × 14,5 m) se situe en sous-sol et peut accueillir jusqu'à 386 spectateurs. Le centre chorégraphique accueille tout au long de l'année des ballets contemporains de toutes origines.
Rudy Ricciotti a été récompensé du Grand prix national de l'architecture 2006 pour cette création.
AIX-EN-PROVENCE - Pavillon Noir
The Pavillon Noir was built between 2004 and 2006. It is intended to house the Ballet Preljocaj, Angelin Preljocaj's contemporary dance company, which has chosen to establish itself in Aix-en-Provence as part of a National Choreographic Centre.
The building, designed by architect Rudy Ricciotti, stands out for its architectural originality, which contrasts with the rest of the city.
This rectangular parallelepiped of 3,000 m2 is 27 metres high and 18 metres wide and is designed in black raw reinforced concrete and glass. It consists of four rehearsal rooms for the Ballet Preljocaj, which are located in the upper part of the pavilion. The performance stage (17 m × 14.5 m) is located in the basement and can accommodate up to 386 spectators. The choreographic centre welcomes contemporary ballets of all origins throughout the year.
Rudy Ricciotti was awarded the Grand Prix National de l'Architecture 2006 for this creation.
