De la caserne de Littré (Lille) jusqu'au SDIS de Roubaix, la lutte est la même. Bruno Cappoen, représentant syndical Force Ouvrière à Lille, assure que la prime de feu, "c'est ça le vrai combat aujourd'hui". Pour Théo Vanneste, représentant syndical CGT à Roubaix, "la priorité c'est le manque d'effectifs". Les deux casernes sont mobilisées depuis plus d'un an et demi pour faire entendre leurs revendications, à travers manifestations et négociations entre syndicats et conseil d'administration.
Pendant le confinement, les pompiers ont réalisé moins d'interventions (entre 30 et 35% de moins), mais ont été - et sont toujours - très exposés au virus. "On a pas de thermomètre, pas de quoi se laver les mains à la caserne [de Roubaix]" se désole le pompier Jonathan Delchambre. Les pompiers des Hauts-de-France souhaitent donc eux aussi recevoir la prime Covid.
