ITEPIANS OR NOTHING!
An ITEP (Institut Thérapeutique Éducatif et Pédagogique) is a medico-social establishment that takes in young children and adolescents (under the age of 16) who demonstrate an inability to adopt behaviour that corresponds to common social rules. They suffer from psychological problems that prevent them from following a normal school curriculum and cause them to adopt inappropriate attitudes in the community.
In short: a child who has been expelled from all types of schools for behavioural reasons.
When you ask a child why he's at the Itep, he tells you that nobody wants him any more and that he's there to learn how to 'control' himself.
At the Itep, you go in all broken, you are protected from yourself, you are there to protect others, you learn from your wounds and you free yourself from them.
In the meantime, the Itep is built in a circular fashion so that each child can always be seen.
The windows show only a closed horizon, to protect them... or lock them in?
So each child looks for a hiding place or an opening for a little respite, while constantly attracting the attention of others. This is the reality of these children who live between two worlds, oscillating between moments of calm and emotional crises.
